Zsani Kajan – St Johns
The season just started for the St John’s university women’s soccer team, but it’s taken only three games for Zsani Kajan to put up an incredible 7-goal mark. Kajan found the net multiple times in each of the team’s first three games, including a hat trick against St Joe’s in a 5-0 win and a brace against Columbia in a 3-3 draw. The hat trick was the third in her career and she sits just shy of 3rd in all-time goals. She already leads the nation in goals, an incredible feat for the graduate striker. Kajan was named Big East offensive player of the week, to nobody’s surprise, also named to the TopDrawerSoccer women’s team of the week.
Taty Castellanos – NYCFC
NYCFC took down the league-leading New England Revolution over the weekend, the perfect result after a rough week. Once again it was Taty Castellanos finding the back of the net for New York, as he continued his fantastic season. Castellanos scored twice in the match, the only two goals in the game. Both came off of great deliveries from Maxi Moralez, the first a flick over the defense that Taty headed home and the second a cross put in on the goal line. Castellanos now has a team-leading 10 goals on the season, and his offense has been vital to NYCFC’s season as they look to challenge for the East.
Piero Elias – Queensboro FC II
Queensboro FC came out on top of the PDA Tournament in New Jersey last weekend, winning a handful of matches against some great academy teams. At the heart of QBFC was Piero Elias, who has continued to impress in the inaugural academy season. The Middle Village native has served as a motor in the midfield, a key part in the solid USL Academy League season ahead of the club’s senior team debut in the USL Championship in 2022.
