Downtown Brooklyn Arts Festival returns

Brooklyn will celebrate the local artists this coming weekend at the Downtown Brooklyn Arts Festival Returns.
Running from September 22-25, the festival will take place in the plaza at 300 Ashland Place, just a short walk away from the Barclays Center.
“We’re really highlighting the great art of downtown Brooklyn in one of our great outdoor plazas, which is in the heart of the downtown Brooklyn cultural district,” said Regina Myer, president of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, which is hosting the event. “It’s a great signal that we’re back.”
This year’s festival includes a Salsa Dance Party on opening night presented by the Morris Dance Center. Other performances include Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra on Friday and the Soul Summit Dance Party on Saturday.
“This year’s festival is even more special after a year of limited opportunities for community celebration,” Myer added. “With an exciting lineup of art, dance, performance and more, we’re proud to bring residents and visitors together to enjoy a diverse array of events from some of the city’s best artists and institutions.”
The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership is working with a number of other organizations to present this year’s festival, including the Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn Navy Yard, New York Transit Museum, Brooklyn Ballet, BRIC, and BAM.
