Last week, Stella Artois transformed some lucky commuters’ trip home into an unforgettable nautical ride.

The East River Riviera provided 20-minute, one-way commutes in between Brooklyn Bridge Park and North Cove Marina in Battery Park City using a fleet of four vintage Riva-style wooden boats.

“The best part are people who have never been on the water or who have never even been on a boat like this before,” said Captain Vincent Mattiola.

East River Riviera is part of Stella’s marketing campaign “Summer Like You’re On Vacation.”

“What a fun way to elevate the commute on the hot, sweaty subway in favor of these luxurious European vacation vibes?” said Lacey Clifford, communications director at Anheuser-Busch

On the Brooklyn side, a four-piece jazz band welcomed riders. The boats providing unobstructed views of the Lower Manhattan skyline. Following the ride, guests were invited to a docked vessel offering small bites and Stella beverages.

“I would definitely prefer taking a Riviera boat to Manhattan every day,” said guest Thomas Sullivan. “It beats the traffic on the streets.”

As with any unique experience in New York, the free tickets went quick.

“Any time you start something, you’re never sure what the response is going to be,” she said. “But after seeing how fast reservations went, that’s when we realized maybe we have something here.”

Clifford heard from numerous guests about how they forgets that New York City is a series of islands and surrounded by water.

“Isn’t it amazing that you get to change up your perspective and get on this boat and think, ‘oh my gosh, I’m seeing my city in such a different way,’” she said.
