Two rockets were fired into northern Israel from Lebanon on Friday, and Israel's army responded with artillery fire, Lebanon's news agency and security sources said, adding it was unclear who was behind the initial attack. Southern Lebanon is a stronghold of Hezbollah, a Shi'ite Muslim group that battled Israel seven years ago and is engaged in Syria's civil war in support of President Bashar al-Assad; Lebanon's news agency NNA said the rockets were fired towards "occupied territories" at 6.30 a.m. (0030 ET) from the Hasbaya area in Lebanon. In December, rockets launched from Lebanon struck northern Israel, provoking a response across a border that had been largely quiet since a war in 2006.

By Ayman al-Warfalli BENGHAZI Libya (Reuters) - Libyan authorities signalled on Thursday they would press ahead with plans to move the country's parliament to the eastern port city of Benghazi despite a collapse in law and order there. Justice Minister Saleh al-Merghani said the government had decided to allocate 25 million Libyan dinars ($20.83 million) to moving the new assembly, elected last month in a vote marred by a very low turnout and violence. "There is nothing to stop us having the legislative authority in this city," he told reporters, adding he hoped further funds would be found for helping to turn Benghazi into the permanent home of the assembly. Security has worsened since a renegade general declared war on militant Islamists in May, turning parts of Benghazi into a battle ground, with fighting continuing even during the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

Kenyan police officers walk past a fire used to barricade a main road after unidentified gunmen recently attacked the coastal Kenyan town of MpeketoniBy Edmund Blair NAIROBI (Reuters) - Kenya may face a full-blown insurgency on its coast unless President Uhuru Kenyatta can douse a combustible mix of ethnic rivalries, land rows and Islamist militancy. Gunmen have killed about 100 people since mid-June, exposing festering problems that could test Kenyatta's ability to reassure a nation fretting about wider security a little more than a year into his first term. Despite dozens of arrests, the government has yet to identify the culprits. "We have a serious radicalisation threat," said Rashid Abdi, a specialist on Kenya and the Horn of Africa, who sees the "beginning of a coastal insurgency" supported by regional Islamists and other groups playing on local grievances.
