After winning two-consecutive road contests against Hartford and No. 11 High Point, the St. John’s lacrosse team lost its second game of the season at home on Saturday to Michigan (3-1), 16-11, on a frigid Saturday afternoon at DaSilva Memorial Field.

Chris Buscemi and Joe Madsen led the way offensively for St. John’s (2-2), as the senior midfielder and junior attackmen each finished with two goals and two assists.

Two other members of the Red Storm finished with multi-goal games, as Jonathan Huber recorded his second hat trick of the season and Declan Swartwood found the back of the net twice.

In total, seven Johnnies logged points on the contest. Senior defenseman Aidan Marron scored from the far side of the field in the contest’s closing seconds for his first career goal.

Reigning Big East Freshman of the Week Brody Agres started the game in net for the Red Storm but was replaced by Gavin Catalano midway through the third quarter after surrendering 12 goals. Catalano recorded four saves in his first 24 minutes of action this season.

St. John’s travels to Loudonville on March 9 to take on Siena at 1 p.m.
