BROOKLYN, NY – Senior third baseman/pitcher Chris Davidson (San Carlos, CA/Carlmont) led the St. Joseph’s College baseball team to a pair of wins compiling a .579 batting average (11-for-19) and was selected as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Player of the Week for games ending March 21 as announced in releases by both Associations earlier today.

Davidson’s week was highlighted by a 4-for-4 performance in a 19-4 win over Emerson, where he had nine RBI and a grand slam. He also earned the win on the mound, tossing 5.0 innings allowing just three earned runs. His nine RBI matches the individual game record set earlier this season by Joe Harten (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) in the season opener against Mount Saint Vincent.

For the week, Davidson compiled a .579 batting average, a .789 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage, while accumulating 11 RBI, four runs scored, a grand slam, double and a steal.

Davidson is currently on a seven-game hitting streak, the only Bear to record a hit in every game this season.

This is the first time the 2009 AD3I Second-Team All-Independent member has been selected for either honor, the second Bears’ hitter to receive the USCAA accolade and the fourth Bear to receive the AD3I accolade.
